Breckenridge continued its home court dominance on Thursday against Frazee, downing the Hornets by a score of 72-57 to earn its sixth win of the season and remain unbeaten in Section 8AA and Heart O’ Lakes Conference competition.

The Cowboys were led by senior post players Anthony Conzemius and Jonah Christensen, who combined for 35 points, 28 rebounds, and five steals. Christensen recorded his second straight double-double, with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Conzemius pulled down a game-high 16 boards.

Breckenridge built a 40-19 halftime lead, an impressive start against a much improved Frazee group coming off a win against a ranked Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton team. DGF proved formidable on Thursday, too, narrowly losing in overtime at Perham.

The Cowboys were patient from the jump, highlighted by a smooth sequence from Sebastian Anderson. The wing grabbed two offensive boards on the same possession, before passing up a contested layup and finding an open Junior Perez for the score on a beautiful wrap-around pass.

Frazee made some adjustments after the break and climbed back within 12 points at 46-34. Freshman guard Justin Corneya nailed four three-pointers, showing his bright potential. But the size and sheer work ethic of Conzemius and Christensen in the lane was too much for the Hornets. Despite Frazee using lineups that featured several players over 6’2”, Christensen’s footwork and Conzemius’ cleanup efforts presented problems.

Adam Ohm hoisted 10 threes in the contest. While it wasn’t his hottest shooting performance, his three makes paced the Cowboys and kept Frazee in fighting mode behind a double-digit deficit. Breckenridge has struggled as a unit from 3-PT range all season at 26.5%. They’ve been efficient inside the arc, however, at 51.5% with the help of strong offensive rebounding efforts to boot. Ohm has connected on 41.5% of his deep shots, hitting more than two per game.

Cooper Yaggie scored 14 points despite a tough shooting night from the field and the free-throw line. He remained aggressive and gave the Hornets something to think about by driving from the perimeter and drawing contact. He added four assists and also took a charge. Anderson also recorded four assists.

No. 12 ranked Breckenridge has a quick turnaround, hosting no. 16 ranked Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
