The Breckenridge Cowboys are 12-5 after an 82-70 road win at Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Thursday. Cooper Yaggie led the way with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals, while scoring his 1000th career point. Jonah Christensen was excellent with 19 points (7/10 FG), 11 rebounds, and three assists.

Yaggie Joins Noah Christensen, Nate Lorenz, Stevin Lipp, Mike Herrick, Brady Lipp, and Joe Terfehr as 1,000-point scorers.

Breckenridge led 38-32 at the half after a buzzer-beater three by Adam Ohm. The white-hot shooter scored 13 points on 4-of-9 shooting from deep. He’s 28/57 from 3-PT range over the past six games, scoring in double-figures each time.

The Cowboys led by as many as 14 in the second half, but it was a late-game run that stretched a three-point lead to 10 and sealed the outcome. A below average free-throw team, Breckenridge stepped up by making 15-of-18 from the charity stripe. Breckenridge out-rebounded the Warriors 40-22. Along with strong rebounding efforts by Yaggie and Christensen, Anthony Conzemius (7), Sebastian Anderson (5), and Landon Blaufuss (4) flew to the glass as well.

Conzemius did his thing down low. The 6’7” senior scored his 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting, including a left-handed hook in the late going that hit front rim and rolled over into the net during crunch time.

Breckenridge sits tied with Perham atop the Heart O’ Lakes standings with a conference record of 9-2 and one game remaining, Saturday at Frazee. The Cowboys lead the conference in scoring at 72.7 points per game.

1,000 career points for Cooper Yaggie. He’s worked his tail off to become one of the best Breckenridge basketball players ever and a phenomenal teammate. pic.twitter.com/9kwAWzOqrS
