The Breckenridge Cowgirls bounced back from an ugly second-half stumble at Hawley, defeating Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton for a 65-28 home win on Saturday. Coach Austin Imdieke's team allowed just eight points after the break in an impressive show of defensive dominance.

Grace Conzemius posted a season-high 20 points.
Breckenridge found Grace Conzemius cutting in the lane early and often, as she scored the game's first six points during a 15-2 run that included a pair of triples from Jude Held and Abby Johnson. The Rebels trailed by as many as 25 in the first half, but cut the Cowgirl lead to 34-20 heading into the locker room.

The Cowgirl coaches were well prepared for the 2021 home opener.

DGF had no interest in pounding the rock inside. They hoisted up three-pointers to no avail, unable to corral their own rebounds over Conzemius and Camryn Kaehler, who finished with eight and nine boards, respectively. The Cowgirls constantly trapped the Rebel ball handlers, forcing turnovers that speedy guard Carcie Materi turned into easy transition scores. She finished with eight points and a game-high four steals.

The Cowgirls were led by identical stat lines of 20 points and 6 assists from Held and  Conzemius. Johnson caught fire in the second-half for 13 points, including a coast-to-coast layup and a circus shot on the baseline that dropped through the net as she fell to the floor.

Resiliency has been a theme throughout 2021 and the Cowgirls showed they have plenty of that in this bounce-back win, after allowing seeing a five-point halftime deficit at Hawley balloon to an 18-point loss two days earlier. Breckenridge travels to Barnesville on Tuesday, January 26th for a crack at the Trojans in the Highway Nine Rivalry game. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
