Hand down, man down. That’s the saying. For Adam Ohm, it didn’t matter whether or not there was a hand in his face, everything was going in. The senior sharpshooter went 7-for-7 from three-point range, scoring a career-high 21 points in Breckenridge’s 74-43 home win over Hawley on Thursday.

Breckenridge jumped ahead 17-7 during a run that included a monster dunk by 6’7” senior Anthony Conzemius. Jonah Christensen found him on a full-court heave, as Conzemius grabbed the ball off one bounce and rose up for a two-handed slam, plus the foul. That post duo caused fits for Hawley in the early going, combining for 10 points to start the game. Christensen continued his excellent passing with four assists on the night.

Hawley pulled to within four points at 21-17 midway through the half. Finding no luck from outside, they went to the dribble drive, where they were stonewalled by Conzemius at the rim. He played a clean game, consistently walling up and elevating with his hands high to disrupt shots. Conzemius finished with 17 points, continuing his clear progression on offense. He was hardly a scoring threat as a junior, but added a variety of tools to his bag during the offseason.

Ohm nailed three of his shots in the opening half, highlighted by a dagger from the baseline with 21 seconds left on the clock. He caught a cross-court pass from his brother, Alex Ohm, and put the Cowboys up 33-23 at the break. He continued to torch the Nuggets from all around the perimeter, scattering his shot chart from every spot on the arc in one of the most blistering shooting performances in school history.

Breckenridge played excellent defense for stretches, led by the tenacious effort of Junior Perez. The 5’7” speedster was all over the court, tracking down loose balls and throwing them off Hawley players to get possession. Adam Ohm took a sizable step forward defensively in this contest, swiping two steals and applying more ball pressure than his previous outings.

In the second half, Breckenridge saw solid play from a cast of Cowboys including Landon Blaufuss and Jacob Vizenor. Blaufuss scored a nice reverse layup by utilizing his size in the post and Vizenor was a problem on defense for the Nuggets. He tallied three steals and converted a breakaway layup to cap off his night. Sebastian Anderson came on strong after the break, punctuating his performance with a sweet left-handed layup through contact and a three from the top of the key.
